Bristol Freighter ZK-CPT

On a recent trip to the South Island, I managed to make it finally to the Omaka Aerodrome, Blenheim, also the home of the Sir Peter Jackson's, Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre.

I was a bit short on time, and didn't manage to make if through this amazing aviation museum, but I will be making a special trip back for a look one day soon.

However time did permit for a quick walk around and on display right outside the Aviation Centre is this retired Safe Air "Merchant Courier" Bristol Freighter ZK-CPT.
Safe Air purchased ZK-CPT in May 1966.

The Bristol Freighter first flew in 1945.

ZK-CPT completed some 27,679 hours during her time in service.  Safe Air is based still currently based at Blenheim's Woodbourne Airport, and operated a fleet of 17 Bristol Freighters.
